Hallo everyone,

I am new on this forum and would like to say Hello to everyone! Looking forward to discuss with you!
One of the reasons I found this forum by chance was, when I was collecting information about the great bascinet.
For ages (at least for me it feels like) I have been looking for photographs of great bascinets with globular visor and skull. So far I could not find pics of original exponates - can anyone help me with pics and links? So far I have only found drawings (pamplona style) but never a real pic...

Hi Blanik,

I'll look through my collection and see what I can dredge up.

Scanning stuff isn';t easy for me, but perhaps I can help you find some material online.

You should check out the Vienna Kunsthistorichesmuseum online - they have a good one that is atop a harness made for Fredrich III - it, and the armour, are out of the Missaglia shop.

I have a number of images of extant great bascinets from the 15th century. I'm hopeless at posting stuff but if you'l like I could e-mail them or possibly send you a disc with the images. As it happens I just compiled those I have into one spot for a friend so it would be easy to make additional copies.

Chef, thank you very much. I know about the scanning problems - same here... Checked the Vienna museum - gorgeous! It is from the period when the bascinet started to loose ground in favor or the sallet and armet, right? Thank you for your efforts!!

Dave, I would appreciate if you sent me those via E-mail - think it is easier than via disc, possibly. will give you my e-mail adress via pm...Thanks a lot in advance!

I believe it's in the Meusee de Arme'. I think I have a few others in different foldes of the computer. Once I dig them free I'll send them as well.

Posting images escapes me, especially larger ones. Remind me Sat though and I can make a copy of the Cd for you. ( at least I think I know how to do that

If it is possible, you can e-mail me reduced versions of the images and I can put them into the public sharing area of your website ( http://www.diu-minnezit.de/share/ )

I'm a big believer in photobucket.com. It will automatically shrink the big images down and make them web-friendly. I will bring a blank DC on Saturday.
