Does somebody have more informations about this armour(the one in background, with a sallet, breastplate, backplate and mail sleeve)?

Personnaly, I think theses pieces are probably Germans, 1475-1485. What do you think and what do you know about theses pieces?

thanks

François

Hallo larcheveque,
you are really looking at the down to earth humble stuff!
That harness is the Archduke Sigmund of Tyrol, made in Augsburg about 1480 by Lorenz Helmschmied.

Hi Martin,

Yes, but do you have informations(and better pictures) about the armour that we can see in the background of the picture? The one, with a sallet, breastplate, backplate and mail sleeve. On the picture we only see the right side of this armour.

Thanks

Hi larcheveque,
yes I do have some more pictures of that harness, but not online, and I think it is only two more pictures that I have.

I visited Austria last week and spent several hours in the open rooms of the museum. I snapped a couple of images of that suit, but I don't recall exactly who it belonged to. You're right about its dating.

Here are my two images, for you. I hope this helps. The suit was quite neat, but I didn't spend a lot of time examining it, since Sigismund and Maximilian were standing in front of it!

Cheers!
