I'm swiftly coming to the point on my riveted coif where it's time to add a ventail across the front, and I want to know exactly what I'm doing before I start, as simply pulling it apart and trying again isn't an option with riveted maille. So, on a typical coif, with the rectangular face opening, will the ventail be attached down the right-hand side (for example), and left unattached along the bottom and left side, then tied up on the left temple, or would it be attached along both the right side and bottom, and tied on the left? If left unattached along the bottom, do i add an extra row or two for an overlap? Also, does anyone have a pattern or tutorial for the leather lining of the ventail? Thanks!
