I'm in the process of planning an English harness circ 1410 ( give or take a couple years) and would be happy to hear any suggestions re' the likely form of a backplate. Given lack of better evidence I'm leaning toward a solid back constructed in one piece but I thought someone here might have alternative suggestions.

Look at S18 at Churburg. It's date is a bit debateable, ranging from about 1400-1420, but that is right on for what you are looking at.
