Pardon my intrusion, but does anyone know where I might find a pattern or some directions on how to make a liner for a bascinet?

There's a nice chapter in Techniques of Medieval Armour Reproduction (ToMAR) by Brian Price.
And there's Steve Sheldon's excellent try at it: http://www.forth-armoury.com/photo_gallery/helm_liner/helm_liner.htm

Many thanks Herman, that was EXACTLY what I was in need of. Now I just need to figure out a way of hanging a camail on a bascinet with a welded on bargrill.

You could try and ask at the armourarchive. I think you'll find they have much more experience with this practice and will be able to help you out.
