I'm am getting ready to attempt to make them, but my articulating isnt that good yet, and fluteing is the same way. so, it will more than likely be a total learning experience but end up with still no legs. anyoen got any good pointers? ho hum, here's to wishing someone somewhere has an old german or italian set they want to sell for cheap -------------------- Chuck Russell

I understand completely about budget, etc. If I had to buy armour of the quality I make, I couldn't afford it either.Just so you know what you're getting into, most accurate and high quality replica cuisses are going to run you over $1000/pr. When I make the same type that I have in stock now, but as a custom order, I get about $1100-1200, 40% more in spring steel. Since we had a mess of partially completed elements and put them together into the stock legs, we decided to charge less for them since they're off-the-peg and not custom fit. It might be possible to find reasonable quality cuisses in the Czech Republic (like Marek & Jizba, but most of those armourers miss many of the shaping subtleties or details) or some other area with less expensive labor, but most replica armourers I'm familiar with in the US are going to be comparable to my prices, perhaps higher than my stock armour price. You have your work cut out for you, my friend. Good luck!

hey thanks a lot!Ya, i do know quality over quantity is going to cost more. I am currently trying to sell all of my sca/larp armour to front a good portion of my living history armour. Best armour does have some good stuff, but I'm unsettled on their legs attemps compaired to say yours or Mac's. Illusion actually look "ok" from the pictures, but i had a bad run in with them a few years ago in the backlog dept. From my point of view no one attempts the knees or even just the fans properly. That's why I'm 1. still looking and 2. studing and trying to make them myself. Trust me, I will own Hedgecock armour in the future Its all in timeing and cash flow! -------------------- Chuck Russell

That's cool. I wasn't trying to pressure you at all. Just wanted to impress on you that quality usually comes with a price, no matter who you get it from. If someone offers you armour for what seems to be an unrealistically cheap price and says it will be "historically accurate", I'd be suspicious. Be careful, regardless of who you purchase from. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is...
