Does anyone know when the hauberk got a splitopening & overlap in front, like this one? It says 1351-1400 but I'm not sure about that -------------------- Bertus Brokamp

Hi Herman,I don't know that Hauberks/haubergeons got such a front split as a general rule atall. There certainly isn't a general date for a general trend - surviving 14th-16th century mail garments come in a wide variety of forms. Worst yet, there has been litle organized study of them, so it is dificult to say anything definitive about them. Perhaps Erik D. Schmid will weigh in. -------------------- Bob R.
