hay ho

does anyone know the propper name for the brass post things suggested in Brian Prices book for use as vervells? I have not been able to find them over here (Australia) - so if I hade the night name for the little blighters I may have more luck....

I have previously been making them by hand out of barstock (a long and boring process.

although I could get stuff cast the idea of being ablr to pop down to the local hardware shop has its merrits

This was covered in the Armour Archive by Chuck Davis:

Do a web search for Horton Brasses. They make reproductions of furniture hardware. I've used their 5/16 chippendale posts for vervilles, and I really like them. You can see them on my site at:

although mine are actually cast (but from one of these as a mold).

Oops, I just checked my unused ones. They look like they've been snipped, rather than cast. I think I paid someone about a buck a piece to cut the threads off for me! Duh!!!
